Job Description


A well-established food production company in Malton is looking for a Factory Kitchen Operative to join their expanding team. Our client crafts a wide range of traditional and contemporary British pastry products, from Sausage Rolls to deep-filled pies to ready-to-oven meals and as factory cook you will be responsible for producing these products to a high quality.


You will work a two-week probation period and, if successful, you will be given a permanent contract of employment.Ā 


Own transport essential due to working location and working hours.


The job:


  1. Ensure that each product specification is followed, and any anomalies are reported immediately

  2. Loading and unloading cookers, blast chillers and holding chillers whilst monitoring & documenting product temperatures

  3. Setting of cooker programmes and delay timers

  4. Manage products through the manufacturing process by agreed technical, hygiene & quality standards

  5. Work efficiently to achieve daily production & cooking plan and communicate any shortfalls or problems in a timely manner

  6. Operate tools, machines & equipment, for which training will be provided so you can assist in the food manufacturing process

  7. Maintain full and accurate cooking and cooling records within agreed timescales

  8. Maintain best hygiene practices when loading and unloading products in order to prevent cross-contamination from occurring

  9. Complete all paperwork as instructed accurately and within specific time frames

  10. Please note this role includes some heavy lifting

Candidate requirements:


  • A passion for cooking and a keen desire to learn

  • Good standard of English, both orally & written

  • Food Hygiene certificate and basic understanding of health & safety

  • Experience of working in food production, an advantage

  • Self-motivated, reliable with good timekeeping

  • Basic numeric & literacy skills

The role offers a competitive salary of Ā£12.30 per hour (first two week are weekly pay), increasing after completion of training. The working hours are 6am-6pm on a 4-on 4-off rotating pattern (weekend availability required).
