Rate: £11.90 per hour

Shift: Monday to Friday 19:00-00:00

Hours: 25 hours per week

Job Purpose:

The Warehouse Operative is responsible for carrying out any role required of them within the warehouse environment. This can range from the assembly of orders within the Manual Line, Medical Bulk Area, Counter Bulk Area and Despatch. They are responsible for the processing of customer orders efficiently, productively and accurately.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Where required operatives must accurately assemble items from Symbol Scanner Equipment, Pick Documentation and Despatch Bins / ABA labels to ensure that the quantity in each order is picked or bagged accurately.
  • Special care must be taken to avoid damage and the appropriate bin/packaging used with all damages reported to the Team Leader.
  • Any pick face errors must be reported to the Team Leaders immediately.
  • Any visible errors within the warehouse environment must be reported to the Team Leaders immediately.
  • If there is a problem with the Knapp Line or Despatch Ramps the Team Leader must be informed.
  • Express orders are assembled in the same way but must be given to the Team Leader to ensure accuracy.
  • Special Check and Off Line Bulk orders are assembled in the same way but must be given to the Team Leader to ensure accuracy.
  • Any errors must be raised immediately with a Team Leader.
  • All unusual quantities in the picking process must be brought to the attention of the Team Leader.
  • Any suspected or actual issues relating to an order itself must be reported to the Team Leader.
  • High standards of housekeeping should be maintained through the shift that relates to pick face on gravity feeds, Errex Racking, Bulk Aisles, despatch and in general warehouse areas of operation.
  • To work with, communicate effectively and co-operate with colleagues to ensure operations run productively and effectively to achieve optimum service and results.
  • To comply with all company Health and Safety requirements.
  • To ensure all equipment is cared for during the entire shift and returned accordingly.
  • To carry out any reasonable requests as determined by Branch Management.
  • All staff are expected to understand the principles of Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal products for Human use (2013/C 68/01) which is reflected in our SOP – REF Chapter 1 AHDL GDP 1.1. it will be a requirement for all staff to be trained in this SOP and have an annual refresher. All other GDP training will be job specific and as per your personal training matrix.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Capacity to use initiative and work under pressure to ensure customer orders are assembled productively and accurately in areas assigned.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and an ability to raise issues quickly.
  • Good Numeracy and Literacy skills.
  • Excellent own time management with key focus on high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness.
  • An understanding of the impact to the Service Delivery Department regarding Customer Care
  • To be flexible and carry out any reasonable requests as determined by SC Management.
  • Be self motivated, responsible with a commitment to Compliance and Health & Safety.
  • Previous experience of working in a warehouse environment would be highly desirable.

Manual Handling:

It should be noted that manual handling tasks such as lifting and bending are “essential requirements” of this role.
