About the role

 


A Warehouse Team Manager oversees operations at a warehouse or storage facility, ensuring that all incoming and outgoing inventory is processed according to schedule. Their responsibilities include:


 



  • Managing warehouse associates, monitoring work, and ensuring safe equipment use.

  • Collaborating with executive management to set warehouse goals.

  • Keeping up-to-date on safety regulations.

  • Communicating with other departments and representitive bodies.

  • Evaluating team performance, providing feedback, and implementing training programs to improve productivity.


 


A successful Warehouse Team Manager needs strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage the team and operations.


 


Key responsibilities

 



  • To manage and monitor all aspects of warehouse performance routinely (e.g. cycle counting, stock control, dispatch, assembly picks, safety performance,service and operating costs etc). To investigate and remedy sub-standard performance. To ensure warehouse tasks are completed in an accurate and timelyfashion.

  • To ensure that warehouse output is planned in accordance with business needs and that close liaison is maintained with production, planning and transport teams to meet this objective.

  • Responsibility for managing, leading and directing all staff reports and/or their teams. Manages all people matters, developing and supporting the team as appropriate e.g. motivating, delegating, performance management, coaching, appraisals, recruiting, and identifying & arranging job related and development training to ensure departmental compliance with regulatory standards, best practice, policies and procedures, Site Rules & Regulations or Company standards and to generate optimum efficiency and performance.

  • To maintain positive and effective working relationships within the factory organisation, with other Company functions and externally with customers and suppliers. 

  • To maintain constructive working relationships with representative bodies (unions, works councils, safety committees etc.).

  • To ensure that food hygiene and safety standards are observed at all times within the warehouse teams, and that monitoring systems (e.g. HACCP) are

  • operated in accordance with specifications. To actively promote cost and quality awareness at all levels within warehouse.

  • To ensure that health and safety at work requirements are identified, communicated as necessary and adhered to at all times within warehouse. To actively promote safety awareness at all levels within the warehouse teams.

  • To assist in the preparation of budgets, capital projects etc. in accordance with requirements. To develop performance benchmarking where appropriate and to actively promote a culture of continuous improvement at all levels within the warehouse teams.

  • Identify and manage continuous improvement projects.

  • Resolve any arising problems, escalating issues as required.

  • As required provide support for day-to-day operational requirements and issues.


Qualifications and skills

 



  • Degree (or equivalent standard) preferably in an appropriate management or other relevant discipline / equivalent experience.

  • Strong experience, within operations/warehouse/supply chain management.

  • Strongexperience/familiarisation working within a food manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of ERP systems, such as SAP are desirable.

  • PC literate including being able to work with Microsoft (Excel/Word/PowerPoint) and manufacturing systems at an intermediate level.

  • Strong people leader.

  • Well-developed communication skills – able to present written and verbal reports that are understood by a target audience. Can communicate with both internal and external contacts and stakeholders at all levels.

  • Customer focused – demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills (verbal & written).

  • Act as a credible customer facing representative of Kerry.

  • Current fork truck license – counterbalance & reach truck.
