Job Description

 

THE ROLE

Are you an experienced CNC Operator looking for a new challenge? Would you feel confident operating CNC Machines and producing machined components to a production plan? Do you think you can do this in a safe and efficient manner, within the planned production time and to the required quality?

If so, this may be the role for you...

A day in the life of a CNC Operator…

  • Ensure the correct grade of rail is used for each job as described on cutting sheets.
  • Calculate the lengths of rail for each job, maximising rail length usage.
  • Ensure the rail condition is to the agreed standard.
  • Record and log each cast number in the logbook.
  • Ensure the machine is programmed with the correct data for the process required for each rail.
  • Record offcuts and actual rail usage on cutting sheets.
  • Ensure offcuts returned to stock are correctly color-coded.
  • Ensure each cut rail is marked with the next operation destination, length, ID of job, “front”/ “back”, work’s order number, and weight and tag number.
  • Undertake inventory checks when required in accordance with current procedures, and ensure stock identification and count accuracy is achieved.
  • Train new operatives when required.
  • Ensure that safety requirements are met and work in accordance with the company’s procedures and legislation
  • Reporting of accidents and ''near miss'' incidents in accordance with procedures.
  • Communicate with the following shift via the logbook and at shift changeover.
  • Ensure quality standards are met and improved on wherever possible
  • Ensure Health and Safety Acts at work are and Company rules are adhered to
  • Ensure the workplace and surrounding area is tidy and promote good housekeeping.
  • Assist in the solving of production problems and continuously improve in all areas of operation

Qualifications

 

THE IDEAL CNC OPERATOR:

  • Previous experience should include manufacturing industry, preferably in a medium to heavy environment
  • CNC Operator Experience (milling)
  • Ability to reading engineering drawings
  • Awareness of safety legislation and quality procedures (ISO 9001)
  • Attention to detail
