Job Title: Machine Operator (Tinting)
Location: Durham, NC
Reports to: Production Manager
SUMMARY: Tends mixing machines and related piping systems, loads, and moves dry materials, tints, fillers, etc. manually into hoppers/batch tanks, loads, unloads and moves liquid solvents using calibrated flow regulators, hoses or other transfer mechanisms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Detects and reports unsafe conditions, equipment, or situations
- Reports all unusual occurrences and incidents to Supervisor
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (half or full-face respirator).
- Obtains, reads and follows in batch package.
- Makes adjustments to batches per written instructions from QC.
- Follows oral instructions from Group Leader or Production Manager
- Moves pallets, and tanks with forklift.
- Dumps drums with drum grabber.
- Transfers MMA and Benzoflex 2088 using pumping systems.
- Operates Mixers per parameters on Operating Instructions in Batch Packages.
- Weighs materials and adds them to batches per batch package.
- Properly bonds and grounds all material transfers.
- Fills out process instruction sheet documenting: lot numbers, quantities, times and temperatures as required by process instructions.
- Cleans batch tanks, mixing blades, equipment and secondary containment vessels or sumps as required wearing PPE until atmosphere/breathing zone is free of dusts, vapors, mists gases or other contaminants.
- Operates hydraulic presses to fill batches.
- Any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management

- Maintain work areas, walking areas, tank storage area(s) clean and free of trash, waste paper, dust and debris.
- Complete all assignments with accuracy, neatness and thoroughness.

- Be flexible to changes in assignment and workload and contribute to the growth of the organization.
- Actively strive to enhance knowledge, skills and abilities related to present position or assignment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School or trade school graduate or apprenticeship experience required.
- Prior assembly, manufacturing or chemical industry background desirable.
- Basic computational and volumetric skills necessary.
- Must be able to calculate/estimate weight or volume of mixture.
