About us
We are the Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD) at Thermo Fisher Scientific, and we are hiring a full-time Warehouse Operative for our Inbound Logistics team at the Loughborough site.
Be part of a dynamic, collaborative team, and play a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient material handling within the warehouse, while delivering exceptional service to our clients. This is a permanent position that offers flexibility around your start/finish times.
LCD is committed to helping the fight against COVID-19. Our chemicals are essential components in personal and laboratory sanitizers and disinfectants, COVID-19 diagnostic testing, virus research and vaccine work. We serve academic, commercial, contract research organization (CRO), industry and government customers in diverse markets, and we have a proven track record in handling dangerous goods globally across the chemical supply chain.
Working hours:
Standard: Monday – Friday, 38 hours per week
Flexible start time options available: 7.00 am – 3.00 pm OR 8.00 am – 4.00 pm
Overtime opportunities offered.
Responsibilities:
Manage inbound deliveries, ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials and overseeing stock put-away operations.
Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Health & Safety policies.
Master the drum cleaning, chemical sampling and tanker offloading processes to ensure efficient operations.
Deliver raw materials and packaging to production areas according to daily schedules.
Investigate and resolve any delivery discrepancies.
Assist with other inventory management tasks at both Loughborough sites as needed.
Ideal candidate:
Eager to learn and committed to long-term skill development with our company.
Familiar with or willing to train on counterbalance, reach truck, and VNA vehicles.
Previous experience in warehouse or inventory management is desired.
Familiarity with warehouse systems and experience with inventory control (cycle counts and reconciliations) is beneficial.
Capable of accurately following procedures and guidelines.
Strong command of English with good reading, math, and attention to detail for accurate data recording.
Basic knowledge of Health & Safety and Dangerous Goods handling is a plus.
Self-motivated and able to work independently while effectively sharing ideas for improvement.
Comfortable working both independently and within a team, with proven problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively with various internal stakeholders.
Full clean driving license.
Education & Certification:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Full training provided, including forklift certification and system training.
Physical Requirements:
Able to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting materials up to 25kg.
