Role Overview






In a Nutshell…

We have a great opportunity for a Factory Manager to join our team within Vistry Works Warrington, at our Warrington Factory. As our Factory Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all the manufacturing and production activities taking place within the factory, including the management of all production staff, achieving production deadlines and quality standards, the upkeep of machinery and compliance with current legalisation. The inbound and outbound dispatch of materials. You are also responsible for the safe operation of the factory, with the safety and wellbeing of our people our ultimate priority.

  • You will have extensive experience in a role of similar seniority, ideally within an environment manufacturing MMC or Timber Engineering
  • You will have excellent leadership and communication skills and you will be able to motivate office and shop floor staff at all levels, with a specific focus on people development and succession planning
  • You will have managed a large team (including external subcontractors) in a production environment, with the ability to drive and motivate a team to meet production deadlines, whilst ensuring quality standards are always met
  • You will have a high standard of personal presentation, with the ability to negotiate and persuade, coupled with the ability to enhance the reputation of the Company
  • A robust understanding of specific health and safety requirements in a manufacturing environment, with the ability to implement and uphold health and safety procedures
  • A thorough understanding of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices, with an outlook that continually strives to make efficiencies in the manufacturing environment
  • You will be able to understand manufacturing drawings, component specifications and tolerances to ensure a quality product is manufactured each time
  • You will be able to maintain ISO, STA and PEFC accreditations
  • Experience of training and upskilling factory staff, specifically focused on engagement and driving operational performance
  • Exposure to working closely with engineering teams, specifically focused on continuous improvement and planned preventative maintenance, to ensure rigorous maintenance schedules are followed for plant and machinery
  • Involvement with the formulation of business and financial strategies, with a thorough understanding of budgeting and financial forecasting
  • Scheduling production using CRM packages such as Dynamics 365 and reporting production levels against forecasts

Desirable…

  • A good educational background, with minimum GCSE qualifications in Maths and English, with broad commercial experience at an appropriate level within the Timber Frame sector
  • A strong understanding and awareness of Health & Safety, manufacturing, production, transportation, construction and on-site installation
  • A strong understanding of MRP systems, D365 or other similar software

More about the Factory Manager role…

  • You will ensure that the manufacturing team are sufficiently trained and motivated to meet production deadlines and goals, whilst consistently maintaining a high-quality standard.
  • You will be responsible for delivering the probability goals of the business, ensuring that the factory production meets set targets to specified deadlines.
  • You will work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure that all of the company’s orders and logistical requirements are met.
  • You will liaise with the Timber Frame Design department, working closely on drawings for each house type, to aim to resolve any issues as they arise and suggest any improvements.
  • You will oversee the performance, wellbeing and people management of all factory employees, consistently striving to develop and engage your team, with a key focus on succession planning and recruitment strategies.
