Location/Division Specific Information:

As a Material Handler in the Repack team at our Heysham site, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing and distribution processes, ensuring the efficient handling and movement of materials for our cell culture media production.

How Will You Make an Impact?:

You will contribute to the manufacture of cell culture media for use in the biotech industry, carrying out chemical processing of raw media through to final packaged product using semi-automated packaging equipment. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will ensure the quality and integrity of our products.

What You Will Do:

  • Arrive to work on time and work during scheduled hours, including additional overtime as needed

  • Follow all written procedures and report any discrepancies to the Area Supervisor

  • Maintain good personal hygiene and wear designated uniform and Personal Protective Equipment as required

  • Perform all work activities safely, maintaining a clean and organized work area

  • Efficiently and safely operate assigned machinery, performing simple maintenance and reporting malfunctions immediately

  • Accurately pick UK and Export shipments from relevant warehouses, reporting any unacceptable items

  • Pack samples for transport to ensure physical and thermal integrity

  • Participate in the collation of Export Shipments, ensuring accurate loading and completion of paperwork

  • Handle fine chemicals in bulk quantities or prepacks in accordance with Chemical Exposure Management (CEM) regulations

  • Maintain good stock levels of consumables in your working area and understand the requisition procedure

  • Participate in inventory processes, including cycle count audits and physical inventories

  • Investigate and resolve Not on Location (NOL) missing items

  • Maintain up-to- date records and paperwork necessary for the role

  • Comply with site security policies and environmental and quality procedures

  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing activities

REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • High School Diploma, Secondary Education, Advanced Certificate, or equivalent required

Experience:

  • No previous work experience required

  • Preferred: Experience in distribution, warehouse, supply chain, or related field

  • Preferred: Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers/forklifts)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good verbal and written English communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Excellent interpersonal and team- building skills

  • Analytical problem- solving skills and ability to communicate complex ideas simply

  • Proficiency in PC skills, particularly spreadsheets and ERP/MRP systems

  • Ability to follow instructions precisely and work independently

  • Understanding of Third- Party Systems, such as courier services and MSDS

  • Ability to apply principles of logic to define opportunities, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move materials as required for the role

  • Work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals and use of safety equipment
