Location/Division Specific Information:
As a Material Handler in the Repack team at our Heysham site, you will play a crucial role in our manufacturing and distribution processes, ensuring the efficient handling and movement of materials for our cell culture media production.
How Will You Make an Impact?:
You will contribute to the manufacture of cell culture media for use in the biotech industry, carrying out chemical processing of raw media through to final packaged product using semi-automated packaging equipment. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will ensure the quality and integrity of our products.
What You Will Do:
Arrive to work on time and work during scheduled hours, including additional overtime as needed
Follow all written procedures and report any discrepancies to the Area Supervisor
Maintain good personal hygiene and wear designated uniform and Personal Protective Equipment as required
Perform all work activities safely, maintaining a clean and organized work area
Efficiently and safely operate assigned machinery, performing simple maintenance and reporting malfunctions immediately
Accurately pick UK and Export shipments from relevant warehouses, reporting any unacceptable items
Pack samples for transport to ensure physical and thermal integrity
Participate in the collation of Export Shipments, ensuring accurate loading and completion of paperwork
Handle fine chemicals in bulk quantities or prepacks in accordance with Chemical Exposure Management (CEM) regulations
Maintain good stock levels of consumables in your working area and understand the requisition procedure
Participate in inventory processes, including cycle count audits and physical inventories
Investigate and resolve Not on Location (NOL) missing items
Maintain up-to- date records and paperwork necessary for the role
Comply with site security policies and environmental and quality procedures
Participate in Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing activities
REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
High School Diploma, Secondary Education, Advanced Certificate, or equivalent required
Experience:
No previous work experience required
Preferred: Experience in distribution, warehouse, supply chain, or related field
Preferred: Experience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers/forklifts)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good verbal and written English communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent interpersonal and team- building skills
Analytical problem- solving skills and ability to communicate complex ideas simply
Proficiency in PC skills, particularly spreadsheets and ERP/MRP systems
Ability to follow instructions precisely and work independently
Understanding of Third- Party Systems, such as courier services and MSDS
Ability to apply principles of logic to define opportunities, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move materials as required for the role
Work in a warehouse/manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals and use of safety equipment
