As part of our growing team, we are seeking an experienced Senior Multi-Head Embroidery Machine Operator to oversee production, maintain quality standards, and lead a team of operators.

Job Summary

As a Senior Multi-Head Embroidery Machine Operator at MB Embroidery, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining multi-head Happy Japan embroidery machines (6, 8, 12+ heads). You will oversee production schedules, ensure quality control, and train junior operators. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-output environment and has a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Calibration:

    • Configure multi-head Happy Japan embroidery machines with the correct thread colours, needle types, and tension settings.
    • Ensure uniform calibration across all heads and troubleshoot complex embroidery issues.

Production Oversight & Quality Control:

    • Oversee daily production schedules in coordination with the production manager.
    • Inspect finished embroidered products to ensure accuracy (stitch density, colour matching, and alignment).
    • Monitor production efficiency, including thread break frequency and output per hour, ensuring targets are met.

Team Leadership & Training:

    • Train and mentor junior machine operators on machine setup, speed optimization, and maintenance best practices.
    • Conduct regular team briefings on production targets, machine maintenance, and safety protocols.

Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

    • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and minor mechanical repairs on embroidery machines.
    • Identify and troubleshoot recurring mechanical or software-related embroidery issues to minimize downtime.
    • Coordinate with service technicians for complex machine repairs.

Process Improvement & Reporting:

    • Recommend workflow improvements, including machine settings and materials usage, to enhance efficiency.
    • Maintain logs of machine performance, production outputs, and maintenance records.

Essential Criteria

Experience & Expertise:

    • Minimum 5 years of experience operating multi-head Happy Japan embroidery machines, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role.
    • Proven ability to meet and exceed production targets in a high-volume embroidery environment.
    • Experience leading and managing a team of embroidery operators.

Technical & Mechanical Skills:

    • Expertise in thread tensioning, needle selection, hooping techniques, and design registration.
    • Strong working knowledge of Happy Japan commercial embroidery machines, maintenance, and advanced embroidery techniques.
    • Ability to diagnose and resolve machine issues such as thread breaks, design misalignments, and tension irregularities.

Leadership & Communication:

    • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced production setting.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with management and team members.

Attention to Detail & Quality Focus:

    • Strong focus on stitch consistency, colour accuracy, and minimal material wastage.
    • Commitment to upholding strict quality control measures.

Desirable Criteria

Digitizing Knowledge:

    • Basic understanding of embroidery digitizing software (e.g., Wilcom, Pulse) for minor on-machine adjustments.

Process Improvement Methods:

    • Background in Lean manufacturing or similar process improvement methodologies.

Production Management Skills:

    • Experience with production scheduling and inventory management for threads, backings, and other embroidery consumables.

Salary & Benefits

    • Annual Salary: £39,000.
