Job summary

To assist with the garage stores operation. Complying at all times with health and safety legislation and Metroline’s policy statement on health and safety.

To ensure that a rapid response is made to requests for stock issues from garages.

Main Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading of deliveries
  • Picking stock requested by garage personnel
  • Provision of stock and consumables to garage locations
  • Identifying parts & sources of supply
  • The maintenance of proper stock records including the proper recording of all orders receipts and issues;
  • The physical control and security of stocks including reporting and investigating instances of physical stock shortfalls, and abuse;
  • Liaison with Technical and Purchasing staff to pursue warranty claims and resolve other quality issues;
  • To ensure all activities within the garage store comply with relevant legislation including the 1974 Health & Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Act 1989;

Essential Criteria 

  • Demonstrable experience of working within a parts stores.
  • A clear appreciation of the consequences of “stockouts” in an internal engineering stores to the smooth running of the business;
  • Previous exposure to computerised stock control systems and be competent in their application;
  • Excellent administrative skills including good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Office and Excel;
  • Full UK Driving Licence;
  • Valid Fork Lift Truck Licence;

  • Must be able to demonstrate credibility to build professional relationships with both employees and managers; 
  • Able to build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders/suppliers;

    Hours of work

    40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
