📝 Role Overview

We are recruiting HGV/LGV Driver Loaders to support Belfast City Council’s Special Waste and Street Services teams. You’ll be responsible for operating council vehicles, carrying out waste collection, street cleansing, and related operational duties across Belfast.

This role is ideal for experienced professional drivers who enjoy hands-on outdoor work and contributing to community cleanliness and environmental upkeep.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

✅ Drive and operate a range of large refuse and recycling vehicles
✅ Supervise and work alongside loaders during daily collections
✅ Safely collect, transport and dispose of waste and recyclable materials
✅ Complete daily vehicle checks, mileage logs and defect reports
✅ Comply with driver hours, tachograph and operator licence regulations
✅ Carry out manual handling and street cleansing when not driving
✅ Ensure PPE, health & safety and vehicle safety procedures are followed
✅ Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with the public
✅ Participate in training, toolbox talks and staff briefings

✅ Essential Requirements

You must have:
🚛 Full, current Category C driving licence (HGV/LGV)
🎫 Valid Driver CPC (Driver Qualification Card)
🧾 At least 6 months’ experience driving LGVs in a commercial or public sector environment
🤝 Experience dealing directly with members of the public
✅ Ability to pass a Council driving assessment (required for selection)
