THE JOB
This is a hands-on and varied role where you’ll play an important part in keeping our mill, warehouse and transport operation moving safely and efficiently.
As our HGV Night Loader / Shunter Driver, you’ll be responsible for shunting and operating HGV vehicles on site, loading finished products ready for delivery and tipping raw materials into the mill. You’ll work closely with our Mill, Transport, Warehouse and Weighbridge teams to make sure vehicles are loaded correctly, paperwork is accurate and everything is ready to go safely and on schedule.
No two shifts will be exactly the same. Your responsibilities will include:
- Keeping our fleet moving by shunting HGV vehicles around site and ensuring they are loaded in line with the distribution plan and driver instructions.
- Loading and unloading safely, including finished products, raw materials and tote bins using a forklift truck (FLT).
- Operating the weighbridge, recording receipts and dispatches accurately using our IT systems and completing the necessary documentation.
- Managing bulk raw material intake, operating the Mill Bulk Intake system and completing the required checks and records.
- Carrying out vehicle checks before loading to help prevent contamination and maintain our high feed safety standards.
- Keeping things clean and safe, supporting vehicle hygiene and maintaining excellent housekeeping through a clean-as-you-go approach.
- Working as one team, communicating closely with colleagues across Transport, Mill, Warehouse and Weighbridge to organise the workload and keep everyone informed.
- Getting the detail right, making sure records, checks and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
- Putting safety and quality first, following our Safety, Health and Environmental procedures alongside the relevant industry standards and assurance schemes, including UFAS, FIAS, NOPS and TASCC.
- Being flexible and getting stuck in, supporting other areas of the operation when needed to help the wider team deliver.
- Continuing to develop, taking a proactive approach to learning and building your knowledge and skills.
Ultimately, you’ll be one of the people who keeps our night operation running smoothly, making sure our vehicles, products and paperwork are ready to go when they need to be.
